viii. The Greeks are mad at the Germans.

This is an interesting article from the Guardian.  I wonder how long the current Greek coalition will hang on to power.

The demands stem from a Greek finance ministry report published in December 2014 which calculated on the basis of expert assessment that Germany “owed” Greece €9.2bn for the first world war, €322bn for the second world war and €10bn for money Greece was forced to lend the Nazi regime in 1942.

Resentment in Greece over Nazi atrocities remains high, and has been greatly exacerbated by frustrations over its bailout and the widespread feeling that Germany is largely to blame for Greece’s woes.

vi: Hey, look a new post!

The previous post was erroneously numbered iv. I fixed it and changed it to v. I regret the blatant error that I left in place forever there.

I'm wondering, did Richard Sherman actually say something that was factually incorrect?

v: The GOP thinks they're going to win this?

Win what?

So I watched a video of Rand Paul talking to Mitch McConnell, who was wearing a hot mic at the time, and at the end Paul tells McConnell that he thinks they're going to "win this", and McConnell agreed. (Link.)

Meanwhile, polling from FOX seems to be showing better news for Democrats. If you can't win a FOX poll when you're a Republican, well then... (Link.)

And you no doubt have heard about the woman who was shot after trying to ram some federal gates in DC. I'm sad for this poor woman, and for the toddler that was evidently in the car the whole time. She's been identified as Miriam Carey of Stamford, CT. The officers and Secret Service did what they had to do, of course, but I get the feeling that this is going to come out messy, and that some people are going to try and spin this against the Obama administration, which would be unfortunate. iii. Doccler really needs a Windows Phone app

July 25, 2013 05:07PM, 3 comments

I can hear the snickering.

But the thing is, that although I can use the browser to write posts, it is clunky as hell. I bought two phones this week: my new HTC 8XT and an iPhone 5 for my wife. She likes the iPhone's app selection and camera better, but thinks that my middle-of-the road Windows Phone is better. She is thinking about returning the iPhone.

Hopefully Doccler will release the API at least. Their Twitter account told me they will. Maybe I can write a simple Doccler app if and when that happens.

Hard to say.

I finished writing this post on a tablet.

ii. On plastic pitches.

A popular pastime of MLS fans is to complain about the fake grass that the Timbers, Sounders and Whitecaps play on.

Here's the thing about that.

The then-called Seahawks Stadium only was approved by voters because they said that it would bring us a MLS franchise.  Had that not been in the mix, the bid to build the stadium that ultimately replaced the Kingdome would have failed, the Seahawks would likely have moved to Los Angeles, Seattle would never have been given an MLS club, and the Sounders, Timbers and Whitecaps would all still be fighting amongst themselves in lower divisions.

And as such, MLS would still be crap.
